PROJECT BRIEF
summary
Our team was responsible for the conceptualization of an autonomous vehicle, VOLT, that would service the city of Las Vegas. In this concept, the city has grown into a smart city that would utilize AVs for public transportation. VOLT is designed to target user experience issues revolving around safety, convenience and luxury.

Final Designs - AV Exterior
All Designs are made based on our research to ensure that tourists have the most optimal experience. My main goals with designing the exterior was (1) to ensure visibility of the vehicle, (2) safety with the built-in and use of AI sensors / cameras, and (3) enjoyable and customizable true panoramic view of Las Vegas landscape through the unique windshield.
finalized user personas
We have a total of four (4) user personas for our case study. Each personal highlights the different types of tourist that make Las Vegas a destination.
These designs were done by Daniel Lee.

UNLV Spring 2024 Undergraduate Research Symposium
My team presented at UNLV’s Research Symposium of Spring 2024. We were given a total of 10 minutes to present our research, findings, and UX solution proposals, then had 6 minutes of Q&A from the judges.
The additional infographics were supporting documentation that aided our final grade at the end of our 10 month course that explained all features and structure of the exterior of the AV.
Challenges
It posed a challenge to find articles of scholar research on the topic of AV + public transportation or public transportation in Las Vegas. Additionally, none of the members of our team had any previous knowledge about interior and exterior design for AVs so we ended up observing and researching AV tech that was already available.
Learning outcomes
Project planning and management, UX research and UX / UI design were all skills that improved in this team setting as well as applying UX design principles in a more physical concept in contrast to the digital space — i.e mobile, app UI or website design.
Overall, I gained much more in depth understanding of UX research and how much UX design solutions are based on the research gathered at the beginning.
